The Moose Acts of Kindness Initiative

What Is the Acts of Kindness Initiative?

Throughout the Moose Is Loose Sales event, the Moose is partnering with local businesses, schools, and community organizations to recognize everyday heroes—people and groups who quietly serve, protect, teach, and support our town.

Instead of just shopping from stop to stop, participants will encounter moments that celebrate:

  • Service

  • Compassion

  • Creativity

  • Community spirit

These moments are designed to remind us that kindness doesn’t require grand gestures—it starts with showing up, paying attention, and caring.

Honoring Our Local Heroes

As part of the initiative, this year at Kickoff, we’ll be giving a special “thank you” to some of our local heroes as a small token of our appreciation.

Kindness on the Moose Trail

Acts of Kindness will also be woven into the Moose Is Loose scavenger hunt experience. Along the trail, participants may be invited to:

  • Reflect on ways they can help someone in their own life

  • Complete simple, positive challenges

  • Share encouraging messages or creative expressions

It’s a playful reminder that even in the middle of a fun day out, we can choose to lift someone else up.

Where the Moose Meets the Heart of the Community

The Moose believes that a great community isn’t just comprised of beautiful spaces, great coffee, or a fun day of shopping—it’s built on people choosing to care for one another. The Acts of Kindness Initiative is a meaningful way to remember the heart behind Moose is Loose: that during the winter months here in the mountains, we are better when we thrive together. We’re growing an annual Woodland Park tradition into a meaningful movement, inviting the community to look for small, intentional ways to make a big difference, while still enjoying great sales and having a good time!

Join the Antler League of Kindness

We’re on the lookout for local heroes of all ages — big-hearted folks ready to join our little alliance and help spread kindness across Moose Country here in the mountains.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you in the Antler League of Kindness — a friendly bunch of neighbors, families, and local businesses who believe a little kindness can go a long way.

Being part of the League means helping keep the Moose’s good spirit roaming all year long by:

  • Looking for simple ways to lend a hand or lift someone’s day

  • Cheering on our local schools, nonprofits, and community partners

  • Sharing kind words, smiles, and creative moments along the Moose trail

Kickoff & Swearing-In

Come join us for our Antler League Kickoff and Swearing-In on Saturday, February 14th at 9:30 AM at Tweeds. We’ll gather, share a little about what’s ahead for the season, and welcome our newest members with a fun, lighthearted swearing-in.

Whether you bring your time, your talents, or just a big heart, joining the Antler League means being part of something warm, neighborly, and bigger than a single day of fun.

Add your name to the Antler League of Kindness and help the Moose keep kindness roaming through the mountains.

A First Step Toward a Lasting Tradition

This is the first year of our Acts of Kindness Initiative, and we hope it becomes a lasting part of life in Woodland Park. Our vision is simple: to grow this into an annual tradition that continues to highlight the good happening all around us—and inspire even more of it.

By participating, sponsoring, or simply sharing in the experience, you’re helping plant the seeds for a culture where kindness is part of our everyday rhythm, not just during Moose is Loose.

Join the Journey

Whether you’re a business owner, a student, a volunteer, or a visitor, there’s a place for you on the Moose trail. Come celebrate community, discover local favorites, and be part of something that goes beyond the hunt—something that helps make Woodland Park a little brighter, one act of kindness at a time.

This year, as The Moose roams Woodland Park, so does a simple idea: kindness is contagious.

About Us — Moose Is Loose

The Moose Is Loose Sales Event began in 2000 by Tweeds Fine Furnishings as a simple, creative way to boost mid-winter business during the slowest stretch of the year. It wasn’t designed as a community-wide event — just a fun in-store promotion to bring customers through the doors during February. But it worked. It worked so well that Tweeds repeated it the next year… and the next. Before long, other Woodland Park businesses began joining in, and The Moose Is Loose organically grew into a beloved town-wide tradition — welcoming visitors and residents alike to experience the best our mountain community has to offer.

Each February, for three spirited weeks, the entire town comes alive. The Moose Is Loose features shop-wide sales and specials, but also a slate of fun, community-focused events that go beyond shopping. From the app-based The Moose Is Loose Scavenger Hunt to the cozy Moose Coffee Crawl, to Paint the Town, an evening for adults to experience mountain culture, and more — there’s something for everyone and every age.

At its core, Moose Is Loose is about more than just good deals. It’s about celebrating community: local shops, small businesses, families, and visitors coming together to share in the spirit of Woodland Park. We’re proud that, in its 25-plus years, Moose Is Loose has become a tradition that supports our local economy, strengthens community bonds, and offers joy, creativity, and connection during the quietest part of winter.
